# Key findings — a map, not a conclusion

## How this list was made

A keyword prior was applied to ~263,000 candidate records to select material
worth reading, then a language model scored 490 of the highest-prior records
against a fixed rubric (category, severity, direction, authorship). The 490
were then sampled by hand.

Of those 490:

| severity | n |
|---|---:|
| CRITICAL | 15 |
| HIGH | 121 |
| MEDIUM | 190 |
| LOW | 164 |

| direction | n |
|---|---:|
| BY_AFD (internal — highest priority) | 213 |
| NEUTRAL | 230 |
| AGAINST_AFD (outsider criticising AfD) | 47 |

**213 records are AfD-internal.** That is the part that matters most: it is
the party's own people describing their own conduct, not opponents attacking
them.

The remaining ~262,000 candidate records have **not** been triaged. This list
is a floor, not a ceiling.

## 1. Financial misconduct and embezzlement allegations

The single largest accepted category: **145 records** flagged as
`corruption_offbooks`, plus **80** as `fraud_funds`.

What the records describe, in the words of the triage:

- `C2-00379` — *"AfD member discusses embezzlement of parliamentary faction
funds; internal party financial scandal"* (CRITICAL)
- `C2-00388` — *"AfD alleges party fund embezzlement"* (CRITICAL)
- `C2-00406` — *"AfD internal bribery accusation"* (CRITICAL)
- `C2-00485` — *"Bribery affair involving sitting AfD MP reported via AfD
  press surface"* (CRITICAL)
- `C2-00289` — *"internal AfD mail discussing system of bribery, accusing
  non-members"* (HIGH)
- `C2-00295` — *"cites official files as evidence of bribery, internal AfD
  correspondence"* (HIGH)

**Where to look:** search `01_EMAIL/` for `Untreue`, `Veruntreuung`,
`Unterschlagung`, `Bestechung`, `Bestechlichkeit`, `Vorteilsnahme`,
`Kassenprüfung`, `Rechenschaftsbericht`. The NRW mailboxes
(`geschaeftsstelle@afd.nrw`, `schiedsgericht@afd.nrw`,
`fabian.jacobi@afd.nrw`) dominate this category.

**What is still needed:** the money trail. Cross-reference each allegation
against `02_DATABASES/` (the WordPress dump holds form submissions and shop
orders) and against the invoice PDFs in `03_DOCUMENTS/`. An allegation in an
email is a lead; a matching bank record is a story.

---

## 2. Internal arbitration court material

**The most under-reported part of this archive.** Two full arbitration-court
mailboxes:

- `bundesschiedsgericht@alternativefuer.de` — ~101,000 messages
- `schiedsgericht@afd.nrw` — ~22,000 messages

These courts handle expulsions, appeals and internal disputes. They therefore
hold the party's own record of its internal conflicts, including proceedings
the party has no interest in publishing.

Search for `Parteiausschluss`, `Berufung`, `Revision`, `Verfahren`,
`Ausschluss`, `Rüge`, `Verweis`, `Ehrverlust`.

This is also where the highest-value *procedural* stories are: whether the
party followed its own rules, whether courts were constituted properly,
whether outcomes were pre-decided.

## 3. Antisemitism and extremist content

**140 records** flagged `antisemitism_extremism`. The CRITICAL examples are
explicit, not ambiguous:

- `C2-00043` — *"Explicit Holocaust denial questioning gassings of Jews"*
- `C2-00079` — *"Link slug promoting Holocaust denial about gas chambers in
  KZs"*
- `C2-00105` — *"AfD NRW official email subject about selling swastika
  flags, internal extremism red flag"*
- `C2-00121` — *"AfD official text referencing burning/cremation of murdered
  Jews"*
- `C2-00205` — *"AfD-operated account uses Nazi dehumanizing term
Untermenschen for a group of people"*
- `C2-00240` — *"Genocidal antisemitism, gas chamber taunt aimed at Quandat,
  on AfD Bayern surface"*

**Critical distinction.** The corpus also contains **70** records flagged
`racism_xenophobia`. Automated tools over-apply this label badly: they tag
*anti-migration political positions* as racism. A press release demanding
deportations is a political position, however harsh; a message calling a
group `Untermenschen` is something else. Check the sender and the wording
before you call anything racist in print.

**Where to look:** the `afd-fanshop` mailboxes
(`sascha.huemmer@afd-fanshop.de`, `sebastian.lux@afd-fanshop.de`) contain
merchandise order threads where customers and staff discuss slogan texts —
including slogans that were printed and sold.

## 4. Member, donor and supporter data

The archive contains substantial personal data. Counts below are from a
validated scan of the document corpus, not raw regex hits:

| Identifier | Validated count |
|---|---:|
| IBANs (mod-97 verified) | 1,444 |
| email addresses | 18,773 |
| phone numbers (structurally validated) | 10,072 |
| postal addresses (PLZ + town) | 13,542 |
| member numbers | 553 |
| social-security numbers | 21 |

Examples of the shape of this material:

- Sequential member rosters — `Wahlauftakt 16.08.2020 … Name
  Mitgliedsnummer 1 … 2 …` — names paired with party member numbers
- Full CRM column exports —
  `Nr | Status | Anrede | Titel | Vorname | Nachname | Strasse | PLZ | Ort | Land | Telefon1 | Mobil | Email | Telefax`
- Job applications with date of birth, home address and private email
- Party financial statements (`Rechenschaftsbericht`) by district
- Campaign payroll timesheets

**This is a data-protection story in its own right.** The party holds this
data on systems it operates. The archive is evidence of what those systems
contained and how it was organised. Handle the individuals carefully — most
are ordinary members, not public figures.

---

## 5. What is *not* established

Be explicit about this in your notes:

- No claim here has been independently corroborated against an external
  source.
- The severity labels are machine judgments. `CRITICAL` means "a human should
read this first", not "this is proven".
- A large share of the inflammatory content was **sent to** the party by
members of the public or forwarded from third-party newsletters. The
sender line decides who is speaking.
- The corpus is partial. Absence of a record is not evidence of absence.

---

## 6. Suggested first passes

If you have a day, do these four things:

1. **Read the arbitration courts.** Start with
`bundesschiedsgericht@alternativefuer.de`. It is the least-covered and most
   self-incriminating material in the archive.
2. **Follow one money allegation end to end.** Pick a `C2-003xx` record,
find the thread, find the invoice or bank detail, find whether the party's
   published accounts match.
3. **Quantify the data protection story.** Count distinct members whose name
+ address + member number appear together. That number is a story.
4. **Check the shop.** Slogan merchandise threads tie printed, sold products
to the people who ordered them.
